No Audio Plays ...

Hi,

I tried searching through the forums for this and couldn't find anything specific to my question so I hope I am not repeating someone.
Anyway, I've had this non-functional 4th gen 30 gb ipod for a long time but it only lived 33 hrs before this problem and it has just been collecting dust since then. It seems to work fine but produces no audio at all, ever, unless you count the clicking noise when you scroll. I took it to the Apple store and they plugged it in to several different speakers and it worked. It doesn't work on any headphones/speakers I own but after I brought it back from the Apple Store it worked for about 5 seconds and then the audio cut out again. I've tried resetting it and everything. In diagnostic mode the "audio" option is not even present in any menu.

Any ideas?

Querstion about iTunes U on iPod Classic ...

I was just wondering why there is now a section on iTunes for iTunes U but not on the iPod?

They obviously updated the software on the iPod along with iTunes because two new playlists were created for iTunes U (instead of having it's own section on the iPod like Audiobooks and Podcasts have). The two playlists are for audio and video, but why aren't they all together on the iPod like the Podcasts are?

In fact, the iTunes U lectures I have WERE podcasts before I changed them with the new iTunes U Media Kind selection thing and the audio and video lectures were all together. I just don't get why they did iTunes U differently than the other sections.

90-day complimentary support expiring - ...

I purchased an Apple iPod Classic 160GB on the 12th July 2009, and on the 20th July I received an e-mail from Apple saying my 90-day complimentary support was expiring.

How is this possible? Is there any way I can e-mail Apple to get them to correct this? The support site is useless unless you call them.

Ipod Classic only plays one podcast ...

My Ipod classic will sometimes play only one podcast and stop, not going on to the next one if there is one. When it happens, I need to reset all my setting and then when I play a podcast it goes to the next one if there is one. What is causing this and is what setting changes whether it goes to the next podcast or not?
Thanks.
Timothy

Suspicous HD sound on new 160GB iPod ...

Hi there,

yesterday I bought one of the new 160GB iPod Classic to replace my old iPod Photo. After loading some music I noticed that the harddrive is really loud and makes disturbing sounds (spinning, clicking and chattering, obviously HD sounds) whenever I switch to the main menu or start playing albums.

Ok, I know that Hard drives do make noises while operating but what disturbs me is the volume. You can hear it even when the iPod is lying on a table one meter away and it is considerably louder than my iMacs working volume for example. In comparison my 4 year old iPod Photo is really silent, I have to put the iPod to my ear to hear the HD sound - the only times I heard a HD sound of this kind is whenever my old iPod froze/the HD crashed and I had to reset it. So whenever my Classic starts to spin its HD I think it's gonna freeze/crash and it freaks me out.

I contacted Amazon (where I bought it) and they told me that HD drive noises are normal and that I should contact Apple.

So, is this normal or a case in which I should try to get a replacement from Apple?

iPod Won't Sync ...

I've got an iPod classic that I've had for about a year and a half now, but after about 9 months it stopped syncing, since then it has just been sitting in my drawer but before buying a new one I wanted to find out if there is anything I can do for this one.

When you try to sync it, it seems to work at first but when it gets about half way through my iTunes library it just stops syncing (doesn't say anything or display any kind of error message but the progress bar at the top of iTunes stops moving), then if you unplug it and look at what has synced there is only ever the first song out of my iTunes despite the fact it often says it has synced over 1000 songs before it stops working. I've tried leaving it like this overnight to see if it will sync eventually but that didn't work, I've reset and restored the iPod countless times and neither seem to work? I thought it may be corrupt files in my iTunes but I have since put my iTunes library onto other iPods and it had worked fine. So does anyone have any possible solutions?

Thanks.

iPod 120gb Classic randomly restarting ...

I just upgraded to a 120GB classic, my former iPod was a 4thGen 60gb. I've had it for just over 3 weeks now, and it's starting to act strange. Yesterday, it just stopped mid-song and restarted, and continued to do so. I'll get anywhere between 15-25 minutes of playtime, then it just restarts itself.

This has happened before, but not with any real frequency. Yesterday it started getting bad. Also, when it reboots to the apple screen, the colors are all distorted.

It's not at capacity (70 gb free) and I'm running most the recent version of the software. The battery has almost a full charge. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Used Audio Capacity Shows A Negative ...

Hello, I am currently using XP Media Center but this problem happens on ANY version of Windows, and I have searched all over and even gone to the local store with no avail.

When I go to the summary page of my ipod, on any windows system (no access to a mac), the capacity bar at the bottom is maxed out (all blue boxes full) and it says

audio: -x,xxx,xxx,xxx gb
free: x,xxx gb

in other words, the used audio capacity shows a negative amount of GB's.
That is impossible! Please help!

Removing Album Artwork from Ipod on ...

I upgraded to ITunes 9 yesterday and synced my ipod for the first time today because i downloaded some new music. After I disconnected the ipod i noticed that the album artwork was load to it. I reconnected and noticed that under the music tab, the include art work box that was present on the Itunes 8 series is gone. Is there a way of removing the art work from my ipod short of deleting the art work?
