Not playing (1 of 0) ...

Hi,

I'm regularly getting an error when using my iPod Classic, which I think is somehow related to Shuffle, but can't figure out what is going on or how to avoid it.

When working correctly, clicking play on a podcast, playlist or album will play all tracks in the selection, one after the other.

However, when I choose one of my playlists and set it to shuffle by song, when I then go to a new playlist or podcast etc; and I click play, it shows the name and of my last played item, no artist or album info and displays 1 of 0. The timing bar shows 0.00 at the start and finish also.

This still happens after syncing, and the only way I can see to get it working correctly is to restore my iPod. I don't want to do this every day though.

So my questions are, is this a common known issue? I've searched this board but not found anything. Is there a known solution other than restoring my iPod each night?

80GB iPod Classic refuses to sync on ...

Since upgrading (HA!) to iTunes 9 my aged but still functional iPod Classic 80GB produces an error on every connection.

iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.

Have done the reconnect thing a dozen times and done three separate restorations. The iPod works fine. But iTunes 9 will not sync with it.

Not sure if this is a known problem, but it sure is annoying.

Maybe someone can help me out. I had my content of my Ipod on my desktop computer and then I bought a laptop and I want to put my songs on the laptop but when I plug my Ipod in it says that my Ipod is sync to another computer. How do I go about doing this.

Classic Random Pauses and Gaps ...

Is there any news on fixing the Classic 160Gb random Pause issue?
I can be listening to my iPod in the car and itll be fine for 10 or so songs then mid-song it will pause for a second or so then continue playback. Its not in a dock or anything, just sat there playing away.

Maybe its a caching issue?

I hope its a software thing and will be fixed soon as currently the iPod isnt fit for purpose. Could it be a hardware issue and Ive got a dodgy iPod?

I hear a few others have this problem.

New iPod Classic 160 gig problem ...

I have a problem with one of the new 160 gig iPod Classics. Sometimes, while listening to music, it will pause (or at least act like it paused) randomly during a song. Playback continues when I take it off hold, or if it's not on hold, pressing any button resumes playback.

I've never had this problem with my older iPods. Anyone else have this problem?

I recentally got a 160gb classic and have been having a software issue. evertime it stays off for more then 20 minutes it has to be reset to be turned back on. I called apple and they said to restore it, so i tried it and it didnt work. I think it might be a glitch in the current software on the ipod. anyone else having this problem?

Audiobooks - Syncing ...

Hi I have a number of audio books and I don't want them all on my ipod at the one time cause frankly they take up room. How do I select which ones I want to sync ? when I go to the options in Itunes and under "Music" there is a box for syncing Audiobooks but this does all of them - do I have to remove the book once I have played it ? will I then lose it altogether - I have paid for it ! any advice on the management of audiobooks much appreciated.

Alphabetical arranging, help! ...

i have had my 80gb ipod classic for several years now, and after uploading some beatles albums, my ipod has screwed up. Now everything with the world 'the' infront of it (eg. the beatles, the darkside of the moon) has been alphabetically aranged with artists and albums that start with 'T'. I have never seen this before on my ipod. I don't know how to fix it, because i didn't change any settings. Should I go through the hassle of reseting my ipod?

New 160GB Classic - Has The Random ...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the original 160 classic and the pausing starts after a few minutes and continues throughout the day. I started listening to the new, IMPROVED classic this morning at 7AM and it played continuously until 6PM. Not one single pause. It's everything that we hoped that the first one would have been. I listening to strictly Apple Lossless files and only had problems since I bought the original. In addition to this important improvement it also seems much faster at loading your music with the covers when you first choose music. All in all, I'm one happy camper. Those of you who are unhappy with the pausing will love this.

120gb is frozen: just says ok to ...

my pod synchronized just fine when suddenly i-tunes said: can't synchronize i-pod (some fault)..... now, even if i plug in my pod, i-tunes doesn't react/open, i cant play music with the i-pod and it only says: "ok to disconnec"t on the display.
it did not fall or anything, it just happend while lying on the desk, connected to i-tunes! what can i do?

Podcasts don't sync with Ipod Classic ...

I just noticed that I have several video podcasts that I have subscribed to and that show up in my itunes account but won't sync with my ipod classic for some reason. I already checked to make sure that the media type "Podcast" is selected for each within iTunes and my settings show that all podcasts should be automatically syncing. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Hello! I play my Ipod through my home stereo. Recently I have noticed interference of someone talking through the speakers that sounds like a ham-radio operator. I doubt if it is the Ipod but thought someone may know of a solution to filter it out. Please help! Mike

New iPod randomly skipping songs ...

I got a new iPod classic 120GB, replacing my old 60gb. I loaded it up with my songs and stuff, and started using it, but after a while it skipped to next song halfway through a song. This happened a few times, and once the ipod even restarted itself (after displaying a low quality 8bit colour apple logo image). I then restored my iPod, and checked for latest software, and it seemed to be better for a while, but it just skipped a song again.

I'm pretty sure all the song files are mp3, but maybe some AACs. Songs that skipped played fine other times. iPod hasn't been dropped since I got it... I guess I have to take it to an apple center for warranty... Does anyone elses new 120GB skip songs?

I was thinking of buying the new 7th generation ipod classic 160gb to replace my old 5th generation ipod 80 gb that has an unbelievably slow sync now since 9.0 itunes update and has rendered it un-syncable unless I let it sync overnight.

Has anyone had any problems with the new 7th gen classic 160 GB with itunes 9.0?

Playlist in Shuffle Mode ...

I have a P/List of about 1300 songs that I eave on all day but would like ot play in a random order.
I have checked the play list in itunes in shuffle mode and when I play it on the ipod it goes in order of artist.
Tried switching on shuffle mode on the ipod and shuffles all the songs, about 8000 of them.
All I want to do is play my playlist randomly, any help please would be great.

If iTunes is unable to locate album art for a particular CD is it possible to add the album art from another source say from Google images?

I can not seem to make this happen.

Resetting iPod ...

I am reluctant to reset my iPod(back to factory settings) because I am unsure if it will resolve the problem I am having with it (without having to go into an Apple Store to have them detect the problem). Songs are omitted from playing when playing a playlist I created. In other words, let's say I have 2,004 songs on the playlist, but when I go to play that playlist, only 2,002 of them play. Would resetting the iPod remedy that problem? Also, some of the artwork on the songs show a black box where the artwork should be (this happens for one or two whole albums). On iTunes when the iPod is connected, the artwork shows up fine. Also, some of the artwork for the songs shows up incorrectly for the song playing. When viewing the Cover Flow on the iPod when not docked, some of the songs/albums are not displayed with the correct album art. The Cover Flow option does not work for me on iTunes with the iPod connected. For some reason, I was never able to use it since Apple integrated this feature into iTunes no matter which version I upgrade to. I have no problem transferring all of my music back onto my iPod because I have all of it in my iTunes library as well as in my "My Music" folder if it comes to that where I ultimately do have to reset the iPod.

Any help would be appreciated.

If anybody has reset their iPod and has had a positive experience with the results, let me know.

I have 120 gb classic 9 months old (no receipt)this starts to sync but then says "connected" and whole thing freezes.

Have had errors 48,1418 and screen says write delayed message on occasion.

Have done reset,restore (many times)re installed i tunes twice,done check disc for errors

Anyone help would be appreciated

80gb Issue syncing/poss hdd fault ...

Hi guys

Firstly I would like to apologise if the problems i am having have been covered but i am getting really fed up over my iPod.

About 8 months ago I went to sync my iPod with iTunes when it came up with errors, sync error -48, corrupt drive, cannot write to drive etc...

I tired all the remedys suggested, including new usb cable, resetting iPod, reinstalling iTunes etc... I thought it was my machine (win xp pro) so i reinstalled windows, still nothing.

One day it started syncing then froze, so looked up again for info, done software resets left right centre, reset ipod, used different software to sync music, tried manual syncing, but still nothing, it would freeze at about 200 songs.

1 Day if synced all 3800 songs, but when i go to play them, the songs don;t play, or its missing part of the song or its the wrong tune against the title.

I am putting up with this as i cannot be bothered trying everything again, I can't afford a new iPod, the warranty is out on this one, does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? and possibly how to fix it.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

iPod classic staying locked ...

I have a strange problem with my iPod classic 120 GB from few days. It gets locked(or on hold you can say) on its own. Initially if it happened.I used toggle the hold button (turn on hold and turn off) and it used to work fine. Now even that doesn't work. On toggling the hold button, the "Lock" icon goes off on screen, but as soon as I click on Wheel or the select button,the "Lock" icon on the tops appears again and the the iPod behaves as it is put on hold. It becomes unresponsive completely. Really don't know what to do

Solution tried:
1. Tried to reset the iPod. But it worked.
2. Did a restore from iTunes. But this didn't work either.

Can some tell me the solution please? is this hardware/software related?

Backing up ipod! Too many folders.. ...

I am backing up over 8500 songs on my iPod.. I am saving them on an external hard drive AND on DVD R dics just to be sure.

I went into the iPod settings under "My Computer" and made the folder unhidden to get the songs... I do NOT want to use any type of program. This worked fine.

I moved the songs to one folder(all of the songs with names like AEOF, etc...)

PROBLEM: I put the settings in iTunes to "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "copy Files to iTunes media" so I could SAVE the songs with their title.

When I imported 875 songs into iTunes just to TEST it, it gave me 426 items in iTunes, all folders of the songs.. (yes, I have a lot of single songs!)

If something happens to my iPod, and I want to put these songs on a new ipod, do i need to CLICK on every folder to import the song in it BACK on iTunes.

This isn't even half my collection and I already have 426 folders. I want to know now if there is an easy way to import songs without clicking on every folder.

Querstion about iTunes U on iPod Classic ...

I was just wondering why there is now a section on iTunes for iTunes U but not on the iPod?

They obviously updated the software on the iPod along with iTunes because two new playlists were created for iTunes U (instead of having it's own section on the iPod like Audiobooks and Podcasts have). The two playlists are for audio and video, but why aren't they all together on the iPod like the Podcasts are?

In fact, the iTunes U lectures I have WERE podcasts before I changed them with the new iTunes U Media Kind selection thing and the audio and video lectures were all together. I just don't get why they did iTunes U differently than the other sections.
